Sat 2 Mon (Saturday Night to Monday Morning)

Rate 6.9/10
Cast

Chuod (Worrawech) falls in love at the first sight with Tonlieu (Coates) as she walks past him. He wants to get closer to her, but he doesn't know how. Then, he asks for help to Tonlieu's bestfriend, Pen (Ungsumalynn). However, he fails miserably even with Pen's help. When suddenly his grandmother falls ill, he asks for Pen's help for the last time to become his girlfriend from Saturday night until Monday morning (his grandmother wants to see his girlfriend). Pen agrees because she wants to get rid of him asking her for help every single day. Their fake relationship starts here.

This movie is disappointing for me. I have high expectation because Thai romance comedies are usually the best, they're hilarious from the start until the very end. But this one's not even funny. Their chemistry seems off and forced, you can see that they're acting. The plot is weak and weird, the situations that makes them together looks way too unnatural. The characters are also weak, and the side characters seem like they were thrown there just to add some other characters with no purpose at all. They're, sadly, meaningless to the movie. The ending makes sense, and that's the only good thing about the movie. If you're looking for a good laugh, I don't recommend this one.

Cast
  • Park Sun Ho as Ma Dae Choong
  • Kim Yoo Jung as Nebi
  • Nam Ji Hyun as Seo Rin
  • Baek Sung Hyun as Chun Ji Woon
  • Kim Woo Bin as God of Dating
Episodes: 15

Ma Dae Choong (Park Sun Ho) is an unemployed boy who spends his days doing particularly nothing. He has no friends let alone a girlfriend. Suddenly a girl magically appears before him and she claims to be his dying love cell called Nebi (Kim Yoo Jung). She promises to save his non existent dating life. Her target, a super star, Seo Rin (Nam Ji Hyun).

The drama's plot is simple and it has a very light story, but it's entertaining. Kim Yoo Jung always gives a great performance, even when it's just a webdrama. She really shines compared to the other actors. There are lots of hilarious scenes, but the story's just moving too fast and it makes some scenes seem rushed. Each episode is about only 10 minutes, so it doesn't leave much impression to me. If they made it a bit longer and gave more depth into the story, it could be better. I wish there're more episodes.

  • Natsuna Watanabe as Kei Kishimoto

  • Gou Ayano as Kurofuku Ichi

The continuation of GANTZ, this movie follows Kei Kurono (Kazunari Ninomiya) as he keeps fighting and undergoes the missions from GANTZ. He tries to save as many people as possible by taking the lead in fighting aliens. As they continue to battle, their enemies are getting stronger. Then suddenly, Masaru Kato (Kenichi Matsuyama) comes back.

If the first movie was amazing, then this sequel will give you twice of the amazement. The plot is so much better, it only gets better as the story progresses. Each scene will make your mind blows. There are  a lot of new characters and every one of them is superb. Every character is essential to the movie and each scene entangles into a jaw dropping ending. I love and hate the ending at the same time. The effects is as phenomenal -if not better- as the first movie. I don't want to give any spoiler, so that's the best that I can describe about the movie. This one is very very recommended, you really have to watch it.

They're frozen in disbelief when they suddenly find themselves inside an apartment room. There, a giant black sphere called Gantz is waiting for them.

This is one of the best Japanese movies I've watched. It's based on a manga, but I only read it after I watch the movie. The movie's intense right from the start. The plot is amazing, I keep wondering what the hell is happening throughout the movie. The actors are also very good, each character stands out and play a big role in the story. The effects are also amazing, I don't think I can praise this movie enough. Each element combined and it's awesome! Great action and it'll make you don't want to leave your seat.

  • Gou Ayano as Yuji Akahoshi
  • Misako Renbutsu as Risako Kano
  • Nanao as Noriko Miki

  • Nobuaki Kaneko as Satoshi Shinoyama

A female employee in a cosmetic company, Noriko Miki (Nanao), was found dead after a company party. She was stabbed and burnt not long after the party. Her co-worker, Miki Shirono (Mao Inoue), also disappeared after the party. She was last seen running to a train station. Yuji Akahoshi (Gou Ayano), a TV producer, tries to investigate Noriko's death and the disappearance of Miki Shirono.

This movie's great! The case seems simple but it gets complicated when the story changes every time a witness was interviewed. Each person has his/her own point of view which is very interesting to watch. And this movie also emphasizes the use and effect of a social media which open my eyes how easy it is to lead the masses through social media. The actors did good, you can feel their needs and emotions naturally. Overall, a very good movie.

An unemployed writer, The Young Man (Jeremy Theobald), tries to find an inspiration to write a novel starts following strangers around the town. At first, it's just to find about how random people live their lives. But, things get complicated when he finds himself keep following the same man. That man, Cobb (Alex Haw), confronts The Young Man when he realized that he's being followed. Things get messier when Cobb invites The Young Man into his life as burglar.

One of the best movies I've ever watched. Intriguing right from the start, the plot is superb. Lots of twists and turns halfway into the movie. Each character is a mystery and you have to really pay attention to each scene to understand what's going on. A lot of flashbacks which makes it a little bit confusing, but at the end of the movie you'll finally understand the whole story (a little like Memento). Very recommended.

  • Taguchi Junnosuke as Bido Granmarie
  • Minami as Kenbishi Yuri
  • Kashii Yu as Hakushika Noriko
  • Suzuki Emi as Kizakura Karen

Episodes: 10

Yukan Club is a club consists of 6 bored and rich students. They always skip classes and hang out together in the club. Having nothing to do, they pass the time by solving cases and mysteries around them. The members of Yukan Club and their quirkiness:

  • Shocikubai Miroku (Akanishi Jin), the son of a police commisioner. He has lots of connection and also a good fighter. But, he shows his soft side whenever faced with heartbreaking events.

  • Kikumasamune Seishiro (Yokoyama Yu), the rich son of a large hospital owner. He's smart and a very skilled martial artist. He's calm and the brain of the club.

  • Bido Granmarie (Taguchi Junnosuke), the son of a Swedish Ambassador, a horse racer and a playboy. He's very popular among girls and a narcissist.

  • Kenbishi Yuri (Minami), the daughter of the president of Kenbishi Business, she's considered the richest one among her rich friends (why is everyone so rich in Japan?). She loves eating and also a skilled fighter.

  • Hakushika Noriko (Kashii Yu), she's the daughter of a famous painter and her mother comes from a respectable tea ceremony family. She's very calm and popular among boys. But her hatred for men can turn her into a violent girl in an instant.

  • Kizakura Karen (Suzuki Emi), the daughter of a jewel dealer. She has the looks of a model and a lot of boys are after her. Her dream is to marry a rich man. She's also a narcissist, just like Bido.

The start of the drama is just so-so, because there're so many Japanese dramas set in an elite school. I thought it's gonna be like Hana Yori Dango, but it's different. It gets better as the episodes progress. It's funny most of the time and unlike any other teenage dramas, it doesn't have a lot of romance between the main characters which is refreshing. The characters are funny and their cases are quite interesting. The only thing I hate is the male characters' hairstyles. I know they try to stick with the manga, but sometimes the hairstyles don't suit the actors and they look like they're out of place. But overall, it's entertaining to watch.

  • Keira Knightley as Gretta James

  • Hailee Steinfeld as Violet Mulligan
  • Adam Levine as Dave Kohl

Dan Mulligan (Mark Ruffalo) is a record label producer who didn't produce anything for the last 7 years. He lives separately from his wife and daughter, Violet (Hailee Steinfeld). His failing career and his broken relationship with his family drives him into a wreck.
Gretta James (Keira Knightley), a talented singer and songwriter lives in New York with her boyfriend, Dave Kohl (Adam Levine). Dave, now having a successful career as a singer, tempted by his colleague and ends up cheating. Broken-hearted, Gretta leaves him and intends to leave New York the very next day. But that night, things start to change when she meets Dan. He's entranced by her talent as she's performing on stage. From then on, they start their journey of music.

I didn't expect much about this movie, I only knew Mark Ruffalo from The Avengers and he doesn't really stand out. But here, he's outstanding. His chemistry with Keira Knightley is perfect. Every scene seems so natural and beautifully entangled in this movie. The soundtrack is wonderful and Lost Stars sounds like old Maroon 5 songs which is amazing. Honestly, nowadays, Maroon 5 sounds more like those shitty EDM than a band. I always thought romance movie without comedy would be very dull, but Begin Again shows me that it's not. It was so great that I got a little disappointed when it comes to an end, I want more! Definitely recommended.

Nicky, thinking that involving her too far will bring no good, let her go after they catch a big fish. Three years later, they meet again and things get complicated.

The plot of the movie is nice, though a little bit predictable. Some scenes move too fast, others too slow. There isn't much action for an action movie. The characters, the plot, the  scenes, everything seems to be neither very good nor very bad. It lacks something, it feels like there's no soul in the movie. You watch it, you enjoy it, but you're gonna forget it right away. It's not the kind of movie which you'll be excitedly talk with your friends about it. It's good, but not that good.

He moves from Bangkok with his family to a new house in Ladda Land, a beautiful housing estate with large houses and a lively neighborhood. His wife and son are happy to move in the new house, but it's the exact opposite for his daughter, Nan (Suttata Udomsilp). She's upset for leaving Bangkok and her friends despite her father's effort to make her happy. Everything's going well until they find out that their neighborhood is not as ordinary as it seems.

A horror movie with a hint of drama. The beginning is a little bit slow and keeeps me wondering 'Is it really a horror movie?'. But worry not, as the story progress, terrifying events start to unveil and it finally shows its real story. It's good, frightening, without lots of jump-scare from the ghosts. The only flaw is that there are some weird events which unexplained until the end of the movie (e.g. the robber). Overall, it's good but it might be not good enough for horror movie fans who look for a constant fear.

Episodes: 12

Kim Soo Jin (Song Ji Hyo) is a producer in a failing film production company. Trying to save the company from bankruptcy, she decides to produce a movie based on a popular webtoon. The webtoon tells the story of the writer's past relationships with his ex-girlfriends. Soo Jin is surprised to find out that the webtoon artist is her very own ex-boyfriend, Bang Myeong Soo (Byun Yo Han). When the movie production starts, Soo Jin ultimately has to face Myeong Soo and his three ex-girlfriends.
  • Na Ji Ah (Jang Ji Eun), a calm and composed widow who runs a restaurant and seems like she still has some feelings left for Myeong Soo.

  • Jang Hwa Young (Lee Yoon Ji), a fierce and successful business woman who doesn't want her fiancee to ever find out about her ex or her extreme behavior if the movie comes out.

  • Ra Ra (Hwa Young), a young and sexy third-rate actress who wants to get a role in the movie no matter what it takes.

When these three meet, all hell breaks loose.

I love this kinds of drama the most, romance with lots of comedies through the episodes. I have a high expectation, but it's not that good. Granted there were funny moments, but some parts are draggy look forced somehow. Song Ji Hyo looks too old for the male lead (she's better in Emergency Couple) and I feel no chemistry between the main characters. The three ex-girlfriends steal the spotlight from the lead characters. It's good that they ended it at 12 episodes, otherwise it would be too boring. There are too many cliche scenes, the piggy back ride, two guys chasing the same girl, the way it takes a really loooong time just to say "I love you". Those scenes make me cringe the most. It's still enjoyable, but it didn't live up to my expectation.

We Broke Up

Rate 7.4/10
Cast
  • Kang Seung Yoon as Ji Won Yeong
  • Sandara Park as No Woo Ri
  • Kang Seung Hyun as Yoon Ni Na
  • Jang Ki Yong as Seo Hyeon Woo

Episodes: 10

No Woo Ri (Sandara Park), fell in love at the first sight with Ji Won Yeong (Kang Seung Yoon) who was performing with his band in a cafe. They started to date but things didn't go as planned, they broke up. Now, hating each other, they don't want to live in the same house anymore. But both of them are broke, they're forced to live under the same roof. Things get complicated when a senior, Seo Hyeon Woo (Jang Ki Yong) makes a move to Woo Ri, knowing she's already broke up. And Yoon Ni Na (Kang Seung Hyun) shows interests in Won Yeong. Will they be able to move on with their feelings still attached somehow?

This drama is light and very short, you can watch the entire episodes in one sitting (each episode is about 15 minutes long). Hilarious yet heartbreaking in some parts. Kang Seung Yoon shows a pretty good acting despite him being a singer, the same goes to Sandara Park. I immediately fall in love with the soundtrack, they're singers after all, they sound so good and the song fits the drama nicely. The down side is some of the jokes are connected to the actors in real life (e.g. the appearance of Sandara's brother), you won't understand unless you know the actors beforehand. But for a fan of Sandara and Kang Seung Yoon, it must be really entertaining.

Todd Anderson (Ethan Hawke), a shy teenager, starts his senior year in Welton Academy, a prestigious school. His father expects him to be just like his older brother, one of the bests students in Welton Academy. There he meets Neil Perry (Robert Sean Leonard), a straight A's student and a popular boy with a lot of friends. On their first English class, they meet John Keating (Robin Williams), the new English teacher who stirs their curiosity by his unusual way of teaching. Later they find out that John Keating was also a student in Welton Academy and he was a part of a club called Dead Poets Society. Neil, along with Todd and the other boys, restarts the club secretly.

I watched this movie a few weeks ago, and it was intriguing. It's interesting to see the culture and the way of living in the 1950s. The adults are very strict to the point of depressing for the youths. But I do admire the way they respect the elders and it was fascinating to see, it's very rare for us to see those kind of young people nowadays. I find the movie itself is beautiful and it makes reciting poems looks appealing somehow (I find poetry to be boring honestly). I definitely recommend this movie.

There, he meets Nobunaga Oda, the son of a warlord and magistrate of the lower Owari Province, who looks just like him. Nobunaga then asks Saburo to take his place. Saburo, not realizing that he's already traveled back in time, accepts his request. Problems arises when he finds out that a lot of people are after Nobunaga;s head.
Shun Oguri and Takayuki Yamada reunites after Crows Zero, great casts for a drama alongside other great actors. The plot is quite simple but the amazing casts really make this drama stands out. Most of the episodes are hilarious with a hint of action. This story shows us the reality of life in Sengoku Era where deaths and wars are considered normal, but in a hilarious way. Although some parts are a little bit heartbreaking, this drama still hold its comedy base. The only weakness of this is the cliffhanger at the end, it desperately needs season two.

One of the best movies I watched. My favorite kind of movie, a little twist in the plot. Intriguing, it keeps you engaged, every seconds of it. Amazing plot that makes you wonder how it will end, and I couldn't predict that ending (God, I feel so dumb sometimes). I got surprised a lot watching this one. Everyone needs to watch this.

One day, she accidentally meets Sota Yamada (Ryo Nishikido) whom she mistaken as a pervert. Sota turns out to be reliable when it comes to taking care of children, she ends up getting help from him to look after Hinata.

I really love this drama's plot. Just like any other dramas, this drama's main plot is romance, but it's good to see it doesn't only focus on that topic. I love how they show the reality of a hard job-seeking in the real world, how everyone has to work hard to chase his/her dreams, how cruel a boss can do to you. Every character seems real and it's nice to see their determination to be a better person. The chemistry is great and Ryo Nishikado becomes one of my favorite actors after this drama. But the ones who steal the spotlight are the child actors. I don't know where they find them, but these 5-year olds are impressive, they can act well at such a young age. And the interactions between the characters are simple yet heart-warming. A good drama indeed.

Funny, innocent, and cute at the same time. The plot is actually old, a boy disguises himself as a girl. But, it's very entertaining right from the start until the end. Hilarious and I can't help to fall in love with the characters. It's funny that I really didn't realize that Sun Woong is a boy (I didn't read any review before watching this drama), she's very very pretty. And I really love that this drama is so short (only 3 episodes!) but it can slay any other dramas I watched. Anyway, if you want to watch a light, funny, heart-warming drama, you need to watch this.

A month later, a group of students wearing sunflower masks terror the school by torturing  a teacher, Yasuda (Kokone Sasaki). The whole town is in a panic as all of them have to join to solve the puzzles to save the missing people.
This movie reminds me of Saw at first, but it actually quite different as the story progress. I love thriller, but this movie seems like it's only focused on torture without a strong background for the mastermind of all the terrors. I really hate all the tortures and blood, it's just too much for me. The plot is quite interesting and the actors did great, but I just can't handle too much gore. Recommended if you like slasher movies.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

Rate 7.8/10
Cast
  • Colin Firth as Harry Hart (Galahad)

  • Michael Caine as Arthur
  • Samuel L. Jackson as Valentine

Kingsman, a secret spy organization, has lost one of their spies in the hands of Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson). Needing a new agent, each spy in Kingsman has to bring a candidate to fill in the vacancy. Harry Hart (Colin Firth) chose Eggsy (Taron Egerton) to be his candidate. While Eggsy carries out a series of training, Valentine starts to find out about the existence of Kingsman and tries to find them.
This movie is great, amazing casts (as expected from Michael Caine and Samuel L. Jackson), the plot is interesting although you can guess the rest of the story from the opening. It's fast-paced and a little bit like Bond movies for the gadgets and classy agent style. It's action-packed right from the beginning, but I can't deny that I hate some of it for its large amounts of blood. It's a little bit too gory for me. If you enjoy lots of action, then this is the one for you.
