  • Robert Sean Leonard as Neil Perry
  • Ethan Hawke as Todd Anderson

Todd Anderson (Ethan Hawke), a shy teenager, starts his senior year in Welton Academy, a prestigious school. His father expects him to be just like his older brother, one of the bests students in Welton Academy. There he meets Neil Perry (Robert Sean Leonard), a straight A's student and a popular boy with a lot of friends. On their first English class, they meet John Keating (Robin Williams), the new English teacher who stirs their curiosity by his unusual way of teaching. Later they find out that John Keating was also a student in Welton Academy and he was a part of a club called Dead Poets Society. Neil, along with Todd and the other boys, restarts the club secretly.

I watched this movie a few weeks ago, and it was intriguing. It's interesting to see the culture and the way of living in the 1950s. The adults are very strict to the point of depressing for the youths. But I do admire the way they respect the elders and it was fascinating to see, it's very rare for us to see those kind of young people nowadays. I find the movie itself is beautiful and it makes reciting poems looks appealing somehow (I find poetry to be boring honestly). I definitely recommend this movie.

Beyond The Memories

Rate 8.2/10
Cast
  • Masami Nagasawa as Kanna Seto
  • Masaki Okada as Roku Akazawa
  • Kengo Kora as Kazue Haruta
  • Haru as Tomomi Kawaguchi
  • Aoi Nakamura as Toshikuni Mayama
  • Yuki Furukawa as Kiyomasa Komine

Kanna Seto (Masami Nagasawa), a cheerful girl who works in a movie advertising company hides something from her past. When she was in high school, her crush and best friend died in a car accident. She seems all right and unbothered by it, but she actually still feels guilty about that incident.
Roku Akazawa (Masaki Okada), a friendly editor in a publishing company has an almost similar story with Kanna. When he was in primary school, he accidentally pushed his friend and she was hit by a car. He still carries his guilt all the way to his adulthood. When these two meet can they heal each other's wounds?

My two favorite actors as the main lead! They bring out the characters really well. I can feel their love, heartache, guilt, pain, sadness and all their emotions throughout the movie. This movie is very touching and it's done beautifully. The relationship between each character feels so deep and I can't help but falling in love with the main characters. It's the kind of movie that can make you feel sad and hurt without showing too much tears. It's perfect (for me).

One Who Wants to Wear The Crown, Bear The Crown is another title for this drama. As it says, it tells the story of the students in an elite high school for rich kids. The students in the school divided into four groups. First, the top group, the heirs of huge companies, they're born rich and don't even need to study hard as they will be bosses once they graduate. The second group, they don't have big companies, but they have lots of stocks which pretty much the same thing. The third, they are the children of high-rank state officials, lawyers, etc. And the last one, the students who get into the school by scholarship, in other words commoners. They are the group which often bullied by the first three groups.
Cha Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye) is a new student who happens to be in the fourth group. Having a feeling to her, Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) tries to protect her by saying that she's a "new money" or someone who recently got rich. But Choi Young Do (Kim Woo Bin), Kim Tan's rival, suspects Cha Eun Sang's real identity and after some time falls in love with her as well. Problem arises with Rachel Yoo (Kim Ji Won), Kim Tan's fiancee, who bullies Cha Eun Sang.

At first, I watch this drama because of the casts (I'm a fan of Kim Woo Bin and Park Shin Hye), very popular actors and actresses and famous kpop idols, wow. And that's the only thing that kept me watching it till the end. Who doesn't know the old Cinderella story? A poor girl meets a rich boy and bullied by evil girl, the main plot is so overused. I love Park Shin Hye, but I really hate her character in this drama. She cries every single time! It's rare to see her smiling in this drama. And, come on, it's not even that sad. Everything is just so cheesy and predictable. And somehow it seems like they only used one song for the soundtrack, I cringe every time Love is the moment... comes on. The side stories and characters are much more interesting and lovable. If you want to watch a drama with a good plot, don't watch this. But if you want to see pretty faces and luxurious places, you're in the right place.
