Love Cells

Rate 7.8/10
Cast
  • Park Sun Ho as Ma Dae Choong
  • Kim Yoo Jung as Nebi
  • Nam Ji Hyun as Seo Rin
  • Baek Sung Hyun as Chun Ji Woon
  • Kim Woo Bin as God of Dating
Episodes: 15

Ma Dae Choong (Park Sun Ho) is an unemployed boy who spends his days doing particularly nothing. He has no friends let alone a girlfriend. Suddenly a girl magically appears before him and she claims to be his dying love cell called Nebi (Kim Yoo Jung). She promises to save his non existent dating life. Her target, a super star, Seo Rin (Nam Ji Hyun).

The drama's plot is simple and it has a very light story, but it's entertaining. Kim Yoo Jung always gives a great performance, even when it's just a webdrama. She really shines compared to the other actors. There are lots of hilarious scenes, but the story's just moving too fast and it makes some scenes seem rushed. Each episode is about only 10 minutes, so it doesn't leave much impression to me. If they made it a bit longer and gave more depth into the story, it could be better. I wish there're more episodes.

Ex-Girlfriend Club

Rate 7.1/10
Cast
  • Song Ji Hyo as Kim Soo Jin
  • Byun Yo Han as Bang Myeong Soo
  • Lee Yoon Ji as Jang Hwa Young
  • Jang Ji Eun as Na Ji Ah
  • Hwa Young as Ra Ra
  • Do Sang Woo as Joo  Gun

Episodes: 12

Kim Soo Jin (Song Ji Hyo) is a producer in a failing film production company. Trying to save the company from bankruptcy, she decides to produce a movie based on a popular webtoon. The webtoon tells the story of the writer's past relationships with his ex-girlfriends. Soo Jin is surprised to find out that the webtoon artist is her very own ex-boyfriend, Bang Myeong Soo (Byun Yo Han). When the movie production starts, Soo Jin ultimately has to face Myeong Soo and his three ex-girlfriends.
  • Na Ji Ah (Jang Ji Eun), a calm and composed widow who runs a restaurant and seems like she still has some feelings left for Myeong Soo.

  • Jang Hwa Young (Lee Yoon Ji), a fierce and successful business woman who doesn't want her fiancee to ever find out about her ex or her extreme behavior if the movie comes out.

  • Ra Ra (Hwa Young), a young and sexy third-rate actress who wants to get a role in the movie no matter what it takes.

When these three meet, all hell breaks loose.

I love this kinds of drama the most, romance with lots of comedies through the episodes. I have a high expectation, but it's not that good. Granted there were funny moments, but some parts are draggy look forced somehow. Song Ji Hyo looks too old for the male lead (she's better in Emergency Couple) and I feel no chemistry between the main characters. The three ex-girlfriends steal the spotlight from the lead characters. It's good that they ended it at 12 episodes, otherwise it would be too boring. There are too many cliche scenes, the piggy back ride, two guys chasing the same girl, the way it takes a really loooong time just to say "I love you". Those scenes make me cringe the most. It's still enjoyable, but it didn't live up to my expectation.

We Broke Up

Rate 7.4/10
Cast
  • Kang Seung Yoon as Ji Won Yeong
  • Sandara Park as No Woo Ri
  • Kang Seung Hyun as Yoon Ni Na
  • Jang Ki Yong as Seo Hyeon Woo

Episodes: 10

No Woo Ri (Sandara Park), fell in love at the first sight with Ji Won Yeong (Kang Seung Yoon) who was performing with his band in a cafe. They started to date but things didn't go as planned, they broke up. Now, hating each other, they don't want to live in the same house anymore. But both of them are broke, they're forced to live under the same roof. Things get complicated when a senior, Seo Hyeon Woo (Jang Ki Yong) makes a move to Woo Ri, knowing she's already broke up. And Yoon Ni Na (Kang Seung Hyun) shows interests in Won Yeong. Will they be able to move on with their feelings still attached somehow?

This drama is light and very short, you can watch the entire episodes in one sitting (each episode is about 15 minutes long). Hilarious yet heartbreaking in some parts. Kang Seung Yoon shows a pretty good acting despite him being a singer, the same goes to Sandara Park. I immediately fall in love with the soundtrack, they're singers after all, they sound so good and the song fits the drama nicely. The down side is some of the jokes are connected to the actors in real life (e.g. the appearance of Sandara's brother), you won't understand unless you know the actors beforehand. But for a fan of Sandara and Kang Seung Yoon, it must be really entertaining.

Cast
  • Seol Kyeong Gu as Chief Detective Hwang
  • Jung Woo Sung as James
  • Han Hyo Joo as Detective Ha Yoon Joo
  • Lee Jun Ho as Detective Squirrel
Ha Yoon Joo (Han Hyo Joo) is a new member in an elite surveillance unit of Korean Police Forces led by chief detective Hwang (Seol Kyeong Gu). While she's training, a professional bank robber group is on the move. Yoon Joo's surveilance team is then assigned to track down the bank robber group and its leader, James (Jung Woo).

This movie attracts my attention right from the beginning. A very good plot with great characters, intense actions throughout the movie. It keeps you wonder what will happen next. Highly entertaining for action movie fans.

Ma Boy

Rate 7.8/10
Cast
  • Kim So Hyun as Geu Rim
  • Sun Woong as Hyun Woo (Irene)

Episodes : 3

Geu Rim (Kim So Hyun), a girl whose dreams to become a singer joins an art high school where some popular young idols go to. She lives in a dorm with Irene (Sun Woong), a beautiful popular singer in the school. Troubles arise when she finds out that Irene is actually a boy in disguise.
Funny, innocent, and cute at the same time. The plot is actually old, a boy disguises himself as a girl. But, it's very entertaining right from the start until the end. Hilarious and I can't help to fall in love with the characters. It's funny that I really didn't realize that Sun Woong is a boy (I didn't read any review before watching this drama), she's very very pretty. And I really love that this drama is so short (only 3 episodes!) but it can slay any other dramas I watched. Anyway, if you want to watch a light, funny, heart-warming drama, you need to watch this.

Tazza: The Hidden Card

Rate 7.8/10
Cast
  • Choi Seung Hyun (T.O.P) as Ham Dae Gil
  • Shin Se Kyung as Heo Mi Na
  • Kim Yun Seok as Aw Kwi
  • Yu Hae Jin as Ko Kwang Ryeol
  • Lee Ha Nui as President Woo
  • Kwak Do Won as Jang Dong Sik

Ham Dae Gil (Choi Seung Hyun), is a very skilled hwatu, a Korean card game player. When he leaves his small town to Seoul, he enters the world of gambling. But his skills are useless when he's faced with groups of swindlers. His life turns and twists with every card players he's faced.
The movie starts off fun and turns dark very quickly. The plot is great, the story is fast-paced but easy to follow. And T.O.P turns out to be a really good actor despite his background as a Kpop idol. The actors in this movie are perfect although I don't really like Shin Se Kyung for having the same traits for every single character she played. But, overall this movie is highly entertaining from the start until the very end.

  • Lee Hyun Jae as Jang Do Il
  • Yoo Min Kyu as Kim Ha Jin
  • Kim Min Suk as Seo Kyung Jong
  • Jung Eui Chul as Yoo Seung Hoon
  • Jo Bo Ah as Im Soo Ah
  • Lee Min Ki as Joo Byung Hee
  • Kim Ye Rim as Ye Rim

Episodes : 16

This series tell the story of a high school rock band, Eye Candy, led by Joo Byung Hee (Lee Min Ki), an eccentric vocalist of the group. The other members are Kwon Ji Hyuk (Sung Joon), Lee Hyun Soo (Kim Myung Soo), Jang Do Il (Lee Hyun Jae), Kim Ha Jin (Yoo Min Kyu), and Seo Kyung Jong (Kim Min Suk). When their school is forced to close down, they transfer to the reputable Jungsang High School. There, they find their opponent, Strawberry Fields band.

This drama is really great! The actors carry out the plot nicely. The characters are really good and they have good chemistry. And the soundtracks are great, I downloaded their songs because of this drama. Sung Joon's voice is nice for a model-turned-actor. How I wish they're a real band so I could hear more of their songs. This is not your typical asian drama as it doesn't only focus on romance. I recommend this one.

Blind

Rate 8/10
Cast
  • Kim Ha Neul as Min Soo Ah
  • Yoo Seung Ho as Kwon Ki Sub
  • Jo Hee Bong as Detective Jo
  • Yang Young Jo as Myung Jin
A series of missing girls has made the police stuck in that case. Detective Jo (Jo Hee Bong), a lower rank detective, is assigned to a seemingly ordinary hit and run case. The only witness for the hit and run case is Min Soo Ah (Kim Ha Neul) who happens to be blind. Min Soo Ah states that she was picked up by a taxi when it hits someone. Detective Jo who's not really interested in the case in the first place dismisses it quickly thinking that the taxi might only hit a dog for Min Soo Ah can't actually see what the taxi hits. But then another witness came to the police, Kwon Ki Sub (Yoo Seung Ho) states that he saw the incident and it wasn't a taxi, but an imported car. Detective Jo, thinking that it might be related to the missing girls case, start investigating it with the help of Min Soo Ah and Kwon Ki Sub. They don't realize that a mysterious man is stalking Soo Ah.

This movie is really great, how they try to find the criminal with the help of a blind girl. It's very interesting as it shows the point of view of a blind person. The plot is very engaging and the actors are great. I honestly didn't expect much of a Korean thriller movie, it's the first that I watch, but it was good. Most Korean movies that I watch is usually romance and it gets boring sometimes. If you want to watch Korean but not the romance genre, you should try to watch this.

Plus Nine Boys

  • Kim Young Kwang as Kang Jin Goo
  • Oh Jung Se as Koo Gwang Soo
  • Yook Sung Jae as Kang Min Goo
  • Choi Ro Woon as Kang Dong Goo
  • Kyung Soo Jin as Ma Se Young
  • Yoo Da In as Joo Da In
  • Park Cho Rong as Han Soo Ah
  • Lee Chae Mi as Jang Baek Ji
  • Kim Mi Kyung as Koo Bok Ja

Episodes : 14

Koo Bok Ja (Kim Mi Kyung), a mother of three, who believes in superstitions often asks a seer about her family's luck. The seer tells her that for the next year, the number "9" will bring a bad luck to her family. Coincidentally, her younger brother, Koo Gwang Soo (Oh Jung Se) will be 39 years old next year. Her oldest son, Kang Jin Goo (Kim Young Kwang), will turn 29. Her second and youngest sons, Kang Min Goo (Yook Sung Jae) and Kang Dong Goo (Choi Ro Woon), will be 19 and 9 years old. From then on, a chain of bad lucks approach the four boys in their work and love life.

I watched this drama a few months ago and I still remember some of the scenes. I love the plot as it is something new for an Asian drama. It's not about a super rich boy who falls in love with a weak poor girl which is very common plot for Asian dramas. The characters are realistic, they have their good and bad sides, just normal people. The story is light and has its funny moments sometimes. Even when it's mainly focused on romance, it has strong backgrounds in other aspects as well, such as family, friends, and work. It's simple yet entertaining.

Episodes : 20

One Who Wants to Wear The Crown, Bear The Crown is another title for this drama. As it says, it tells the story of the students in an elite high school for rich kids. The students in the school divided into four groups. First, the top group, the heirs of huge companies, they're born rich and don't even need to study hard as they will be bosses once they graduate. The second group, they don't have big companies, but they have lots of stocks which pretty much the same thing. The third, they are the children of high-rank state officials, lawyers, etc. And the last one, the students who get into the school by scholarship, in other words commoners. They are the group which often bullied by the first three groups.
Cha Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye) is a new student who happens to be in the fourth group. Having a feeling to her, Kim Tan (Lee Min Ho) tries to protect her by saying that she's a "new money" or someone who recently got rich. But Choi Young Do (Kim Woo Bin), Kim Tan's rival, suspects Cha Eun Sang's real identity and after some time falls in love with her as well. Problem arises with Rachel Yoo (Kim Ji Won), Kim Tan's fiancee, who bullies Cha Eun Sang.

At first, I watch this drama because of the casts (I'm a fan of Kim Woo Bin and Park Shin Hye), very popular actors and actresses and famous kpop idols, wow. And that's the only thing that kept me watching it till the end. Who doesn't know the old Cinderella story? A poor girl meets a rich boy and bullied by evil girl, the main plot is so overused. I love Park Shin Hye, but I really hate her character in this drama. She cries every single time! It's rare to see her smiling in this drama. And, come on, it's not even that sad. Everything is just so cheesy and predictable. And somehow it seems like they only used one song for the soundtrack, I cringe every time Love is the moment... comes on. The side stories and characters are much more interesting and lovable. If you want to watch a drama with a good plot, don't watch this. But if you want to see pretty faces and luxurious places, you're in the right place.

  • Han Groo as Joo Jang Mi
  • Yeon Woo Jin as Hong Gi Tae
  • Jinwoon as Han Yo Reum
  • Han Sun Hwa as Kang Se Ah
  • Heo Jong Min as Lee Hoon Dong
  • Yoon Soo Hee as Nam Hyun Hee
Episodes : 16
Joo Jang Mi (Han Groo) wants to get married with her boyfriend Lee Hoon Dong (Heo Jong Min). So she prepares a party to propose her boyfriend. Realizing what she's trying to do, Hoon Dong  asks his best friend, Hong Gi Tae (Yeon Woo Jin), to ruin the party so that he doesn't have to marry her. The plan succeeds, but Jang Mi who's feeling upset releases her anger towards Gi Tae. Gi  Tae's mother accidentally saw the incident and thought that Jang Mi is Gi Tae's girlfriend.
Gi Tae's mother, thinking that Jang Mi's angry because Gi Tae refuses to marry Jang Mi, invites Jang Mi to her house and forces Gi Tae to marry Jang Mi because he has refused his mother's wish for him to get married quickly. His mother threatens him that if he doesn't want to get married, she will sell his apartment and force him to live in his parents' house again. Doesn't want to leave his apartment, Gi Tae makes a deal with Jang Mi to marry him in exchange of revenge for Hoon Dong. Trouble arises with Gi Tae ex, Kang Se Ah (Han Sun Hwa) who still has a thing for him and Han Yo Reum (Jinwoon), an employee in Hoon Dong's restaurant who seduces Jang Mi constantly.
This drama is not very popular, but it's surprisingly good. I doubted it at first because of the cast, they are not very popular in kdramas and I didn't expect much. But I was so wrong! After the first episode I can't stop watching. It's really really funny, I have to cover my mouth so I don't wake my sister up when watching it at midnight. It's really entertaining right from the start until the end, not boring at all for a 16-episodes-long-drama. I was blown away by this drama and I don't understand why is it only  a few people watched this. Popular actors and actress have nothing to do with the quality of a drama. It's the storyline and well, the act! You don't have to be popular to be able to act well. You guys really need to watch this drama.
